Medellín, the city of Eternal Spring, has just been included in the prestigious list of the 50 best destinations to visit during 2023 by the American magazine Time.
According to the publication, nowadays the capital of Antioquia enjoys trendy coffee shops and a vibrant nightlife in the exclusive neighborhoods of El Poblado and Laureles, 30 years after the death of Pablo Escobar.

The street art, freestyle rap, and breakdance of Comuna 13 – once the epicenter of urban armed conflict – make the city described as the ‘creative capital of Colombia’ and one of the most innovative in Latin America.
Furthermore, remember that due to its violent past, it has been commonly described as a ‘miracle’.

The publication highlights that the transformation of Medellin began in 2004 with the ‘social urbanism’ of Sergio Fajardo’s administration.
It also emphasized that since then, Medellin has invested in infrastructure and services to connect poor sectors with the city’s economic center, for example, through the Metrocable lines that have been built in the last 20 years and are now also part of the tourist experience.
Among the plans recommended by the magazine for those visiting the paisa capital are: attending an educational tour with ‘Zappy Tours’, who visit the library parks and electric stairs of Comuna 13; going on a tour of a commune not frequented by tourists with ‘Real City Tour’ and visiting the 902 showroom, where traditional and modern local handicrafts are found.
“This recognition fills us with pride and adds to the recent national and international recognitions that the city has received. From the district administration, we are generating incentives and conditions for the actors in the ecosystem to be able to offer our capabilities and generate an economic impact through the more than 1,500,000 visitors who will arrive in the city in 2023,” said Mauricio Valencia, Secretary of Economic Development.

Medellin has become the preferred destination for tourists, thanks to the various national and international recognitions that the city has received.
In 2022, it was recognized as the best emerging destination in South America at the World Travel Awards; Best Creative Tourism Destination by the Creative Destination Network; Provenza was listed as one of the coolest streets in the world according to the website Time Out; one of the most attractive cities for digital nomads by Airbnb, and was certified as Colombia’s first Smart Tourism Destination.
